The
Beijing Institute of Radio Measurement (BIRM)
founded in November, 1958, is the research center
of the ground radar system in the aerospace field.
It is mainly engaged in the research, design and
manufacture of the radar, communication and electronics.
There are 14 technical divisions and 3 large-scale
workshops which are set up according to the radar
system project. There are nearly 1800 staff in
the institute, one of them is academician from
Chinese Academy of Engineering, 400 of them are
research fellows and senior engineers and 180
of them are skilled workers including special
technician, senior technician, technician and
senior artificer.
The BIRM boasts over the first-class CAE center,
precision test center, numerical control machining
center, information network, large-scale antenna
test range and microwave darkroom, the first-class
design and product line for the microwave ferrite
device and microwave mixed integrated circuit
as well as the product line for the surface acoustic
wave device.
The BIRM is the national first-level metrology
unit and archives management unit. With the ISO9001
quality management system certification and Occupational
Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) certification,
the institute possesses modern science and research
management system, perfect product guarantee system
and the first-class after service system.
The products and devices developed by the BIRM
have gotten more than 427 various awards, including
the national invention awards, national science
and technology advancement awards and ministry
science and technology advancement awards. Lots
of persons have gotten various national awards,
including the national May-First Labor Medal,
the labor model of the ministry and defense industry
and the national technical master-hand.

◇ Radar mechanical design, technology and quality

◇ Microwave ferrite material and device, microwave
mixed integrated circuit device, surface acoustic
wave technology and device
◇ Broadcast transmitter and satellite communication
station
